A Good Friday morning

Today started just like any other day. It is gorgeous outside, so we took a couple laps around the block, Monkey on her scooter, Bear on his walking bike, and the two littles in the stroller with snacks. We went to the grocery store and stocked up on supplies for the weekend’s festivities. Then we came inside and baked caramel brownies, Pioneer Woman style.

But among all of Β the normal today, my heart is full.

Full because I do not have to fear death or condemnation.

Full because Christ took on death for me.

Full because I have the perfect record of Jesus’ righteousness covering my sin.

Full because of the grace poured on me through Christ.

Full because I know that God loves me, because he sent his only son, his treasure, to die in my place.

As the sun peeked over the rooftops this morning I was reminded that I am an heir to the promises of the new covenant. Salvation is mine because he has caused me to believe. Today, as I look back to the night that Jesus submitted himself to earthly authorities and laid down his life I am sorrowful for my sin that put him there, but so thankful and overjoyed at the same time.

Have a blessed Easter!
